Ivor Wilkes
I currently attend a CofE church in Aldridge and have been involved with the children’s works for many years. For some time I have had a desire to encourage the men in my fellowship in their Christian walk and this has led me to join the Instep Planning team, which I did a couple of years ago. I have been a Christian for many years, having been brought up in a Christian home. At the age of 7 I asked Jesus into my life and became a Christian. I sadly lost my wife in a car crash in 2004, leaving me to bring up a 3-year-old lad and 7-year-old daughter by myself. This was a very difficult phase of my life, but one where I experienced the Lord's presence in a very special way. Professionally, I have had an enjoyable career in Local Authority Building Control which I have recently retired from. I am a keen bird watcher and nature observer and love being in the outdoors, mountain biking, rambling, skiing, camping etc. The more I look at nature, the more it fills me with wonder at the God who has designed and made it. My Christian faith continues to help me through the ups and downs of life and gives me direction and a real hope of one day being united with my maker.
